On Sunday, December 17 members of the Pittsburgh Photo Club are invited to tour the Allegheny Observatory located in Riverview Park, from 5:00-8:00pm (the Steelers are away that day).
We will be touring the building with time to pause and photograph, followed by viewing with the 13″ Fitz-Clark refractor telescope if the weather permits and a demonstration of assembled astronomical images taken at the observatory if it is cloudy. The tour will be a mix of science, history, art, and architecture.
Be advised that sunset that day is at 4:55 pm with total darkness at about 6:30 pm. The telescope dome areas are not weather conditioned so the temperature will be the same as the outside.
Please contact Bob Borkoski if you are interested.
