Join us at Mt Lebanon’s Party in the Street on Saturday, August 5!

 

The event itself is from noon to 6 p.m. with live music plus food, drink and games, admission is free!  The ribbon cutting at Clocktower Plaza in front of East End Brewing (651 Washington Rd) is at 3:00 p.m.

 

The club will meet at the municipal garage at 661 Washington Road at 9:00 a.m. and shoot until noon before the street fair actually kicks off. Some people may consider meeting at the Mt Lebanon Recreation Center to park their cars, then car pool to the municipal garage which just about a mile. The parking rate for the municipal garage is $1.50 per hour.

The area has many photo opportunities within the four block business district. The firehouse is one block to the north of the garage and I am told that we can photograph the trucks. Behind the Fire House is the Mt Lebanon Cemetery which is nicely kept. One block from there are three stone churches: St Bernards, Mt. Lebanon Presbyterian, and Mt. Lebanon Methodist, all of which are photogenic. Across the street is Church Place Park a small park.
 
Behind the municipal garage is the Mt Lebanon subway station as it emerges from the tunnel. The garage is four or five stories tall so it possible to shoot down or across from several levels. A block to the south of the garage is the art deco style Municipal Building built in 1929, I think the interior is more impressive than the exterior.  

The street furniture is interesting, light poles with signage, a clock on a standard and lots of plantings and benches. Opportunities for those who like street photography with people. Many businesses have interesting building facades and signage possibilities abound.
