On Sunday, December 17, members of the Pittsburgh Photo Club are invited to tour the Allegheny Observatory located in Riverview Park, from 5:00-8:00pm (the Steelers are away that day).
We will be touring the building with time to pause and photograph, followed by viewing with the 13″ Fitz-Clark refractor telescope if the weather permits and a demonstration of assembled astronomical images taken at the observatory if it is cloudy. The tour will be a mix of science, history, art, and architecture.
Be advised that sunset that day is at 4:55 pm with total darkness at about 6:30 pm. The telescope dome areas are not weather conditioned so the temperature will be the same as the outside.
Please email Bob Borkoski with the subject “Observatory Tour” if you are interested.
